Troubleshooting and FAQ

Available without signing in.

Common problems and how to fix them.

Signing in

I can't sign in

  • Check the email address. It must be the one you registered with.
  • Passwords are case-sensitive.
  • Registration does not reveal whether an address already has an account. If you are unsure, use Forgot your password? on the login page.
  • After several failed attempts, sign-in is paused briefly. Wait a few minutes and try again.

I didn't get the verification email

  1. Check spam and junk folders.
  2. Wait a few minutes; delivery can be slow.
  3. Use Resend verification email on the registration page. Akordo replaces the old link with a fresh one.

The link expires 12 hours after it is sent.

Reset links work once and expire one hour after they are sent. Request a new one from Forgot your password?. If the link looks broken, your email client may have split it; copy the whole address into the browser.

I want to change my email

See Account settings. You need access to the new address and your current password.

Charts

Chords aren't lined up with the lyrics

ChordPro attaches chords to syllables. Check that:

  • Chords are in square brackets: [C], not (C) or {C}
  • Every [ has a matching ]
Wrong: (C)Hello (G)world
Right: [C]Hello [G]world

A section header isn't recognized

Headers must be on their own line with nothing before them. The words Akordo recognizes are listed in the ChordPro reference. Case does not matter.

To print a line literally, start it with a backslash: \VERSE 1.

The key change isn't working

The transpose line needs a sign and its own line:

TRANSPOSE KEY +2
TRANSPOSE KEY -3

TRANSPOSE KEY 2 without a sign is not recognized.

My hash comment is showing in the chart

Lines starting with # render as visible comments, the same as {c:...}. There is no hidden comment syntax. Use a private arrangement note for reminders only you should see.

Directives from my ChordPro file disappeared

Akordo supports a subset of ChordPro. Unsupported directives such as {sot}, {define}, and {capo} are dropped. See Not supported.

Numbers mode is greyed out

The song has no key. Set one in the Key chip.

The metronome won't start

The arrangement needs a tempo between 20 and 300 BPM. Set it in the Timing chip.

Setlists

I can't edit a setlist

Check the badge next to the name. Completed, locked, and archived setlists are read-only until the owner chooses Reopen. If there is no badge, your role on the setlist may be View only.

I can't drag songs to reorder

Reordering is paused while a search is active. Clear the search box.

The runtime shows a tilde

The tilde marks an estimate because some songs have no duration. Open each song's row editor and set a duration.

PDF export

The layout looks wrong

The PDF uses a fixed two-column Letter layout. Long lines wrap differently than on screen. Shorten them or add COLUMN_BREAK to move a section to the next column.

The PDF is blank or a song is missing

The arrangement has no chart content. Add lyrics and chords and export again. Setlist exports skip such songs and report how many.

Groups and sharing

I can't edit a song in my group

Your role decides what you can do:

  • View only can read but not change
  • Setlists only can manage setlists but not charts
  • Can edit can create and edit songs and setlists, but only an owner can delete them
  • Owner has full control

Ask a group owner to change your role.

I can't see a group's songs

  1. Check the scope switcher in the top bar. Personal hides group content; choose Everything or the group.
  2. Refresh the page.
  3. Confirm you appear in the group's member list and that your invite is not still pending.

Our only owner left

A sole owner cannot leave a group, and nobody can delete their account while they own a group, so a group cannot become ownerless. If you cannot reach the owner, contact the Akordo team through Help & Feedback.

I deleted something by mistake

Deleted songs can be restored from Deleted in the library actions menu for 30 days. Deleted arrangements can be restored from the arrangement switcher. Deleted instruments can be restored from Deleted Instruments in the instrument manager. Deleted setlists cannot be recovered, and neither can content removed by deleting a group with Delete all content with the group.

Stage mode

My foot pedal does nothing

Most Bluetooth page-turn pedals act as keyboards and send arrow or Page Up and Page Down keys, which work without setup. Check that the pedal is paired in your operating system and that it is in a keyboard mode. MIDI-only pedals cannot control Stage mode on the web yet; the MIDI setting in Settings only lists devices for now.

The screen turned off during a song

Akordo keeps the screen awake while Stage mode is open, but some browsers only allow this in full screen or when the page is the active tab. Use the full-screen button.

Browser and device

The app is slow on my phone

  • Update to the latest version of your browser
  • Clear the browser cache
  • Check your connection
  • Close other tabs

Which browsers are supported?

The last two major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

My changes aren't saving

  1. Check your connection
  2. Look for an error notification; save failures are reported
  3. Try again after a moment

If it keeps happening, sign out and back in, or try another browser.

Getting help

If your problem is not covered here, open Help & Feedback from the account menu. Choose Bug, Question, or Idea, add a subject and message, and send. The Akordo team replies in the same conversation.

Include:

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened, and what you expected
  • Any error message
  • Your browser and device
  • A screenshot if the issue is visual

Audio uploads

  • Storage full: check whether your storage or the owning group’s storage is full. Delete an uploaded track you no longer need. Removing a device download or a recording link does not free uploaded-audio storage.
  • File too large: choose a smaller recording within the displayed maximum file size. The file must also fit the remaining storage of both you and the group, when applicable.
  • Track limit reached: replace or delete a track on that arrangement. A pending upload can temporarily count toward the limit. Total attachment limits may also apply across your uploads.
  • Couldn’t check storage: try again in the Audio section. Existing tracks remain visible; reconnect if offline. A replacement needs a fresh limits check before removing the original.
  • No permission to upload: ask an owner for editing access. For an arrangement owned by several groups, you must belong to an owning group so the upload can be attributed correctly.
  • Replacement upload failed: if removal already succeeded, the old file is gone. Attach a recording again, then check the arrangement’s backing-track selection.

Only upload recordings you have the rights to share. YouTube and other web recordings belong under Recording links; adding a link does not create an uploaded practice track. See Songs.
